SWEDES LOVE BERLIN AND GERMANS LOVE SWEDISH FASHION
The Swedish Institute Stockholm presents in line of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in January 2011 the event “Swedish Fashion Goes Berlin”. It will all start with the exhibition “Fashion! Fashion Photography by Camilla Åkrans” on the 20th of January at the Gallery Swedish Photography in Berlin-Mitte (mid of Berlin).
In Sweden Mercedes-Benz has been actively involved in the fashion scene since 2008 and is title sponsor of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Stockholm since 2010. The steady increase of the international interest in the Stockholm fashion week is due to this commitment. The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin is an established platform for young and rising designers, and now for the first time also Swedish talents have the possibility to present their creations in a Group Show to an international audience.
But fashion operates also in other fields than elevated catwalks: at the gallery Swedish Photography, photographs by Camilla Åkrans, one of the most awesome Swedish fashion photographers, will be on display. With her strong sense for compositions and ability to use lighting, she transforms fashion photography to the new art form for the third millennium. When the darkness falls, the gallery’s courtyard will be enlightened by cutting-edge fashion videos. And if you thought that fashion was all about surface, a seminar with renowned lecturers from Centre for Fashion Studies at the University of Stockholm will change your mind.
